Commencements

Commencement Rehearsal
It is expected that ALL seniors will attend the commencement rehearsal on Tuesday, May 28th at the O’RENA.  Rehearsal will begin at 11:00 a.m.  Seniors should arrive early, check the seating assignments and be seated so we may start on time.  Graduates will walk through the ceremony, be informed of line-up procedures, and given last minute additional information regarding directions, diplomas, and changes in schedules at this time.  Rehearsal is expected to last until 12:30PM.

Commencement Ceremony
The graduation ceremony will take place at the O’RENA, Oakland University, on the evening of May 28th, starting at 7:00 pm.  Doors will open at 6:00 pm. It is important that seniors be at their designated line up area by 6:30 pm.  The ceremony will last approximately 2 hours.
Parents should plan on taking all photographs of seniors before 6:30 pm. We are requesting parents to vacate the line-up area by 6:30 pm so the task of placing the graduates into proper order can occur without disruption.
Special Note:  Alcoholic beverages are NOT permitted at this event and smoking is prohibited.

 Commencement Parking
Parking will be available on the grounds of the O’RENA.
All ceremony parking lots will be marked accordingly.
Handicapped parking will be located across from the O’RENA.
Please be aware that construction will be taking place on OU’s campus.  Travel time is expected to be especially high with the traffic congestion.  If there are updates, they will be shared as we get closer to the event.
To view parking maps click here.

Commencement Tickets
A General Admission ticket is required for entry into the O’RENA.  Each graduate will receive 6 tickets.  Tickets will be distributed at the check out on May 16th
If your family needs additional tickets, please email Danielle Weimer or call the counseling office to request up to two additional tickets.
If your family needs more than two additional tickets, you can be added to a waitlist for more.

Dress & Behavior for Graduating Seniors
All graduates participating in the commencement ceremony MUST wear designated caps and gowns.  Only proper academic regalia may be worn on the gown (honor medals, honor cords, & tassels).
Corsages, blue jeans, shorts, tennis shoes, sandals, sunglasses, balloons, etc. will not be permitted.  Graduates inappropriately dressed will NOT be able to participate in the commencement ceremony.  Caps cannot be decorated in any way. Decorated caps will be removed. This is a formal occasion and appropriate dress is expected.
